Chris Dace
President
Chris is the Clubs third President. Chris has been the Participation Lead for two years, so provides some great continuity for the committee. He is a British Cycling Level 2 MTB Guide and is also one of our ride leaders, You’ll see him out on group rides, and supporting our ride leader training.

Simon Bowden
Chair, Cycling and Triathlon Welfare Officer, & Club Kit
Simon Has been a member of Newbury Velo since its launch in 2019. Simon looks after our Kit Shop and Safeguarding, supported by two deputy Welfare Officers. Simon is also a member of the British Cycling Safeguarding Board and is one of our ride leaders.

Helen Dace
General Secretary
Helen looks after the club membership and general secretarial duties. She is regularly on Sunday group rides, usually on her bamboo gravel bike. She has toured the Alps and Pyrenees, ridden the NC 500 and to Budapest as a stoker on her tandem. Helen is one of our ride leaders.

Ian Greenstreet
Club Treasurer
Ian is a founding Newbury Velo member and a seasoned racer. He has an impressive collection of awards and accomplishments on the track. He is our most experienced tandem pilot, setting TT records with Rachael Elliott, our racing secretary. He is one of our valued coaches.

Scott Nicholls
Triathlon Treasurer
Scott joins the committee to look after the triathlon accounts related to club activity and the annual Newbury Velo Triathlon. Scott is a keen cyclist ad triathlete, and brings a wealth of experience to the committee in terms of event management and planning.

Andy Hockedy
Participation Lead
Andy has bags of cycling experience in a number of disciplines. He leads on getting everyone involved in Club activities; he facilitates group rides, helping to ensure that members can enjoy a wide range of cycling activities. He leads our Ride Leader Training Programme.

Andy Jones
Vice Chair and Limitless Lead
Andy assists the Club chair with general duties and is a joint participation lead with Andy Hockedy. He leads the clubs involvement with British Cyclings Limitless programme, developing our offering to less able cyclists. He also assists the coaching team and is a ride leader.

James Avison
Communications Secretary
James is our communications secretary so if you have any news you’d like to share in our weekly newsletter, do get in touch with him! James is one of our ride leaders and often leads our Club introduction rides. He is a member of our Steelie section, with quite a few vintage machines in his quiver.

Rachael Elliott
Racing Secretary
Rachael is a founding member of Newbury Velo. Rachael has set many TT tandem records with Ian Greenstreet. She is passionate about coaching and also our tandem initiative, which ensures those who are less able than others have the opportunity to ride bikes. Rachael is one of our valued coaches.

Martin Colston
Triathlon Secretary
Martin is a cycling and triathlon member of the club. He heads up the triathlon sub-committee, supported by Scott Nicholls the triathlon treasurer and Bart Kuitjen our triathlon coach. Martin works with thr triathlon subcommittee to organise and host the Newbury Triathlon

Lizzie Lock
Women’s Participation
Lizzie is our women’s lead, ensuring we support and promote women’s involvement at Newbury Velo. We warmly welcome female members. A good proportion of the club’s membership is female, and five of the club committee members are women. Lizzie is one of our valued coaches and a ride leader.

Mel Sneddon
Coaching lead
Mel is in charge of the Club's coaching programme. If you're between 3 and 12 years old and would like to gain more bike skills, please do get in touch. Club membership is optional to be involved, but most join once they get a flavour of the fun involved!

Lisa Boorman
Social Secretary
Lisa is our social conscience! Reminding us that there is more to the club than just riding our bikes. She arranges monthly social gatherings, as well as the summer BBQ, and our prestigious annual awards evening where we celebrate our m’s successes and our Velo Volunteers, to name but a few.
