Amidst the restart of our group rides today, we also held another time trial this morning on the H10/1 course (basically a lap of the A4 between Aldermaston and Thatcham).
The day started with conditions best described by the BBC-weatherperson term, “dank”. Nevertheless, we only lost a handful of riders due to the conditions and, by the start, conditions had dried up.
As normal with this course, many riders had their fair share of “slow downs”: slowing at roundabouts, traffic lights in Woohampton or, in George Andrew Westall’s case, an extra roundabout.
As well as a plethora of Newbury Velo riders, we welcomed many riders from further afield - and also some first time time triallers.
First placed Newbury Velo rider was Matt Fisher with a time of 21:51 with Jen Magill first Newbury Velo female with an excellent time of 24:17.
The fastest rider today was Tim Cartwright (Newbury RC) who just missed getting under 20 minutes with an excellent time of 20:01. Second place went to George Clark (Sprint Tifosi RT) in 20:50 with Aron Kelly (New Forest CC) taking third with 21:12.
Jen Magill also took first place overall in the ladies’ field, with Rebecca Nash (Team Vision Innovative Leisure) taking second place in 25:10. Millie Davies (Cardiff University Triathlon Club) crosses the line third in 26:47.
First tandem in the mega sized field was Ian Greenstreet and Rachael Elliott in 20:17.
However, the biggest mentions of the day should go to our awesome team of helpers: Tom Meir, Maggie Smith, Danny Grey, Philip Burgin and Stuart Grant. We also had Damien Abery and Roo Fisher taking photos, and Jaymi Dooley impressively managed to put down a fab time and then take photos afterwards!

We’re on H10/3R again tomorrow night - see you then!
