Newbury Velo Event

Club 10 mile TT H10/3a

Monday, 6th July 2020 7:00 pm

Newbury Velo is very proud to say that we ran the first cycle racing event to happen in the UK since lockdown started. Cycling Time Trials gave its permission to run our first two events as demonstration events to test the water for other events to start next week. Part of this was to go above and beyond on the risk assessment, which we definitely felt like we did - strict distancing measures, temperature checking, disinfecting numbers etc.

It was emotional for many of us to see numbered riders on the road again!

Well done to the 60 riders who were lucky enough to get a spot in tonight’s event. We were treated to some outstanding performances.

First of the strong turnout from Newbury Velo was Matt Fisher with a great time (PB to be confirmed) of 22:12.

Henry Latimer (Didcot Phoenix) stormed to victory with a staggering time of 20:19, with James Fawcett (...a3crg) in second place with 21:03. Tom Lane (Atlas Clever Race Team) took third with 21:21.

Amongst the ladies, it was Kirsty McSeveney (...a3crg) who took the top podium spot with a fast time of 24:02. Jennifer George (Memorial Santos) was just behind with 24:07 whilst Corinne Clark took third with 24:16.

Owen Abery (ONFORM) was first junior boy in 26:47 and Freya Eccleston (PPV) was first junior girl in 27:30.

We look forward to welcoming you all back at future events.
